About studentnews	English (USA)
The studentnews@lists mailing list was created as a way for the University to keep in touch with its students on matters of importance to the daily running of the institution. So, while we usually won't advertise events -- unless they are mass events that have some relevance to most members of the student body -- we will use this list as our primary means of advising you of issues surrounding infrastructure (for example: parking, water cuts, power outages, network outages) and crisis situations (for example: crime, fire, emergency measures of any sort). It is intended to be a low-traffic list, with about one message a day. On occasion, such as in crisis situations, the frequency may increase. We will not use this mailing list to spam you, and our moderating team works hard to ensure that only relevant information is sent to Rhodes University students via this list. studentnews@lists is an opt-in mailing list, which means you must explicitly subscribe to it before you'll receive any mail. If you elected to receive general communication from the University at registration, you will be automatically subscribed at the beginning of the year. You can also choose to unsubscribe at any time if you you want to. Students who're not currently subscribers to this list may periodically be invited to subscribe. We believe that studentnews@lists is a valuable communication service that will make it much easier for you to stay in touch and aware of what's happening on campus. Using studentnews
To post a message to all the list members, send email to studentnews@lists.ru.ac.za. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to studentnews
Subscribe to studentnews by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
